![]() I got the Serta Deluxe 2-inch Memory Foam Mattress Topper and am a happy camper. Their price appears to be the SAME regardless of mattress size, and is very competitive. Seems to me like there are enough Westy owners to make this worth their while. Heck, if we gather enough interest they might even be interested in a custom Westy upper bed pad. They also have a Pro Tester program which can give you 20% off if you buy the product and turn in a unique review: The XXL is 4" thick (that's what I have), super comfortable but only 30" wide which is more than fine for one person but might be small for two. ![]() Using this table from GW it looks like you could use two regular pads in the upper bunk although they are only 1'5" thick. I have a self inflating pad from Alps Mountaineering and its the bees knees. They usually come in widths of 20 to 25 inches, so two would be required for a couple. Deflated they will fold and fit in the back of the pop top area. thickness and they roll up fairly compact for storage. You can get this in a size that will allow the top to close.Ī self-inflating sleeping bag pad could be an alternative to the memory foam. I switched from memory foam to quality($80.ouch) eggcrate foam and like it better. '89 hightop Westy Joker syncro 16" now with Bostig! '65 21 window deluxe sold before the price spike, damn it. I fold the 1" topper in 3rds and stow it in the recess (made when you fold the VW bed back on itself) at the rear of the top. Go with the 1" foam, 2" doesn't allow you to close the top. The rear cargo area is taken up by totes with wetsuits and sleeping bags. I am looking for 1-3" memory foam that I can lay on the stock foam and still be able to fold the top down. I like stock but I know our backs and hips will be achy come 1am and real stiff over morning tea and coffee. What I am hoping to find out is if anyone has any thickness memory foam permanently left up top along with the factory padding.Ģ" padding is as new. If your top bunk is anything like 90% of them still on the road its padded with foam that's at least 25 years old.įoam breaks down over time, and the stock pads that came in a Westy weren't ever that comfortable to begin with. You shouldn't have any problems if you replace the existing foam with new foam of the same thickness. Has anyone had any issues with this or solutions? I really need it to fit up there with the top closed, one less thing to think about taking up space. I like comfort getting older, but better than the alternative. At first he was able to close the poptop but now says he can not.Ĭostco has them on sale right now. A friend cut a piece of memory foam and put it over the factory foam and said it made a huge difference. Sore back especially after a hike or surf.
